DILATED EXAMS: This procedure is very important in evaluating the interior portions of the eye. It is especially necessary in all diseased based situations. In some cases Retinal pictures are taken to keep a visual record of the eye from visit to visit. Hand sketches and notes are always made by Dr. Kass for record keeping purposes. Any changes in one's visual status may be directly linked to interior changes within the eye.
Please make sure you give Dr. Kass a complete description of all medications your are taking or have taken in the immediate past. These drugs may have a significant link to your visual condition.
Annual Dilations are performed on all Diabetics, Glaucoma Suspects, High Blood Pressure and Cataract Patients. If your Visual Acuity is not correctable using routine measures, a dilation will be done to rule out a possible medical condition.
Those patients with High Blood
Pressure, Diabetes, Glaucoma,
Cataracts and those patients with poor health or are over the age of 40, need to
be dilated with drops annually. If you have Flashes, Floaters, Vision Loss, A
Red Eye or had Cataract or Glaucoma Surgery, dilation is definitely necessary.
It is as necessary as a Glaucoma Test.
In some cases, even children and young adults need to be dilated as well. If
necessary, Dr. Kass will explain why!
Opening up the pupils lets the Dr. Kass see into the Eyes and
potentially diagnose a health problem which could not be seen without this
procedure. If a health problem does exist Dr. Kass will suggest a course of
action to help remedy the difficulty.
Kindly schedule this Dilation Appointment today. Your Insurance
Carrier may even cover part of this necessary procedure.
DILATION SHOULD BE PART OF YOUR ANNUAL EYE EXAM

* This photograph show a classic picture of a Retinal Tear and Vitreous Hemorrhage. This is one of the reasons we dilate patients. Without Dilation, this situation would routinely be missed.
* Dilated Ocular Examinations along with other important tests need to be done during most eye examinations. Your Doctor is the one to decide if this procedure is a necessary one.
YOUR 1ST EYE EXAMINATION:
All children should have their eye examined before entering school. Usually by the age of 4 or 5 is the recommended age to begin. Annual Eye Examinations for both your children and yourself is the recommended protocol. Yearly Eye Exams are the ticket to Healthy Vision.

CATARACT CO-MANAGEMENT:
Not only do I co-manage with LASIK surgeons but my office also handles patients Pre and Post Op relating to their CATARACTS. If surgery is needed I will refer you to a competent surgeon in Central New York. They will discuss your condition, operate to remove the Cataract if necessary and then refer you back to me for the Post Management. I will provide your surgeon with constant progress updates.
If you think you have a Cataract and need care, please feel free to contact my office@ 315-434-9168 or
315-668-0422 or email me @ hjkass@hotmail.com
GLAUCOMA:
Is a triad disease. It is imperative that you have your pressure and a dilated fundus examination done each year to rule out this potential blinding disease.
A Visual Field and a Gonioscopic examination may also be recommended.
Ask Dr. Kass about these procedures upon your next visit to his office.
